Terms of Use

Welcome to SketchDose (the "Site" or the "Service"). The Site is operated by the Site operators ("SketchDose"; the "Operator", "we").

1. Acceptance

Using the Site, by any means and on any device, constitutes acceptance of these Terms and of the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. By signing in with a Google account and by uploading content you expressly confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms.

2. Who may use the Site

Browsing is open to everyone. Creating an account and uploading content are allowed from age 18, or under 18 with the consent of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on the minor's behalf and is responsible for their use. Children under 13 should not register or upload content. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we may delete it and its content.

3. Service provided "AS IS"

The Service is provided AS IS and AS AVAILABLE, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of availability, continuity, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or freedom from errors, viruses or disruptions. Images, information and search results come partly from external sources, and we do not guarantee their correctness, completeness or the license stated for them.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator will not be liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, special or incidental damage, including loss of data, loss of profits or harm to reputation, arising from the use of the Site, the inability to use it, content uploaded by users or third‑party content. In any event, the Operator's total liability, if any, will not exceed the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months preceding the event, or, if you paid nothing, ₪100. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

5. Changes to the Service and paid features

We may, at our discretion and at any time, change, add to, limit, suspend or discontinue the Service or parts of it, temporarily or permanently, and may change these Terms. In the future some features may be offered for a fee, for example as part of a Pro plan. Paid features, if any, will be offered on terms shown in advance, and no payment will be charged without your explicit consent. Material changes to the Terms will be published on the Site, and continued use after publication constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

6. Rules of conduct

You may not use the Site to:

• upload content that is not yours or that infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy or any other right;
• upload offensive, threatening, defamatory, racist, sexually explicit or violent content, or content that harms minors;
• harass others, impersonate others or publish other people's personal details without consent;
• send spam, advertising or malicious links;
• attempt to hack, bypass security mechanisms, overload the Service or collect data automatically (scraping) without written permission;
• make any use that is unlawful under Israeli law.

We may remove content, limit or block access, and delete an account that breaches these Terms, at our discretion and without prior notice.

7. Content you upload

When you upload a drawing to the monthly challenge or any other content ("User Content"):

• you declare that you created the content, that you own the rights in it and that it does not infringe the rights of others. A drawing based on a reference must be your own work and not a copy of a protected work;
• the rights in the content remain yours. You grant the Operator a non‑exclusive, royalty‑free, worldwide license to display, store, resize, technically process and distribute the content on the Site and on SketchDose's social media channels, in order to present and promote the challenge, with the display name you chose;
• you may delete your content at any time. After deletion we will stop displaying it on the Site. Posts already published on social media before deletion will be removed on request, where possible;
• we may, but are not obliged to, review User Content, and may remove any content at our discretion, including following a report.

8. Reference images and third‑party links

Reference images on the Site are shown from external sources (such as iNaturalist, Wikimedia Commons and Openverse) and belong to their creators, under their licenses. The license, creator name and a link to the source are shown next to each image, as far as the source provides them. You are responsible for checking the license terms before any use, especially commercial use. The Site links to third‑party sites and services; we have no control over and no responsibility for their content, availability or privacy policies. 9. AI‑generated content

Images created with the "Create a reference" tool are produced by an external service and are intended as drawing references. They may contain inaccuracies or unintended similarity to existing works. Do not enter offensive descriptions or personal details into the tool.

10. The Site's intellectual property

The SketchDose name, logo, design, code, texts and studio models (excluding third‑party content and User Content) belong to the Operator or to their licensors. They may not be copied or used without permission, other than ordinary personal use of the Site. Images you download from the studio may be used as references for your own drawings.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and compensate the Operator for any damage, loss, liability or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, caused by your breach of these Terms, by content you uploaded or by a third‑party claim arising from your use of the Site.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and the use of the Site are governed solely by the laws of the State of Israel. The competent courts of the Haifa district have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter relating to the Site.

13. General

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. The Hebrew version of these Terms is the binding version.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information SketchDose collects, why, with whom it is shared and what your rights are. It was written in accordance with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741‑1981, including Amendment No. 13, in force since August 2025, and the Privacy Protection (Data Security) Regulations, 5777‑2017.

1. Who is responsible

The database controller is the Site operators ("SketchDose"). For any privacy matter: hello@sketchdose.com, or via the contact form.

2. What we collect

• Google account (only if you sign in): name, email address, profile picture and user ID, received from Google through Firebase Authentication.
• My board (only if you sign in): the list of images you saved, so it can sync between devices.
• Drawings you upload to the challenge: the image (resized in your browser before upload), title, the text you wrote, technique, the display name you chose, date and user ID. These drawings are shown publicly.
• Challenge hearts: which drawings you marked with a heart.
• Messages and feedback: message type, message content, name and email if you chose to provide them, and, if you were signed in, your user ID and account email.
• Local browser storage (localStorage): preferences such as light or dark mode and accessibility settings, your board without an account, counters for on‑site reminders. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. See Cookies & local storage.
• Technical information: browser and device type (attached in short form to messages and feedback), and technical information that infrastructure providers normally collect, such as IP address and server logs, for security and operation.
• Descriptions for the AI tool: the text you type in "Create a reference" is sent to the external image service to create the image. Do not include personal details.

You are under no legal obligation to give us information. You can browse, search and save references without signing in or providing details. Without an account you cannot upload drawings to the challenge or sync your board.

3. Why we use the information

• to enable sign‑in, board sync and challenge uploads, and to display the public gallery;
• to answer messages and handle reports, removal requests and accessibility requests;
• to improve the Site based on feedback;
• to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.

The basis for using the information is your consent, given when you sign in, upload or send a message, and the need to provide the service you requested. You may withdraw consent at any time, in which case we will delete the information as described below.

4. What we don't do

• we do not sell, rent or trade personal information;
• there are no ads, advertising pixels or ad tracking on the Site;
• there are no analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), and Firebase Analytics is not enabled. If this changes, we will update this policy in advance.

5. Who we share it with

The information is stored with Google through Firebase services (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), acting as our service providers. Google's servers may be located outside Israel, including in the United States and the European Union, and transfers are made in accordance with the Privacy Protection (Transfer of Data to Databases Abroad) Regulations. Reference images load directly from their sources (iNaturalist, Wikimedia Commons, Openverse), so your browser contacts them directly. The Site is hosted by an external hosting provider and the Heebo fonts load from Google Fonts. If you choose a machine‑translated language, the page is shown through Google Translate, which receives the page content and technical information under Google's own policy. Otherwise we disclose information only if required by law or court order, or to protect our rights and those of other users.

6. How long we keep it

• Account details and board: while the account is active, or until you ask us to delete them;
• Challenge drawings: until you delete them or we remove them;
• Messages and feedback: up to 24 months from the date sent, unless longer retention is needed because of a legal obligation or dispute;
• Local storage: on your device, until you clear it in your browser settings.

7. Your rights

Under the Privacy Protection Law you may review the information stored about you, ask to correct wrong or outdated information, and ask to delete information. You may also ask us to stop using information for a specific purpose and withdraw consent you gave.

How to ask: send a request via the contact form or to hello@sketchdose.com. To protect you, we may ask you to verify that you own the account. We will respond within 30 days. Signed‑in users can also delete their drawings and synced board themselves from the account menu ("Delete account and data").

If you think we did not handle your request properly, you may contact the Privacy Protection Authority at the Israeli Ministry of Justice.

8. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information: communication is encrypted (HTTPS), database access is restricted by security rules (Firestore Security Rules) so each user can access only their own data, messages and feedback are write‑only from the Site, and administrative access is protected. Still, no security on the internet is perfect, and we cannot guarantee that information will not be exposed through an event beyond our control.

9. Minors

The Site is not intended to collect information from children under 13, who should not register or upload content. Minors aged 13–18 may register with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you learn that a child under 13 gave us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page with its date, and material changes will be shown prominently on the Site.

Cookies & Local Storage

In short: SketchDose does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner. We store in your browser only what is needed for the Site to work and to remember your preferences.

What is stored in your browser

• Preferences: light or dark mode, language, accessibility menu settings, studio and timer settings.
• My board: the images you saved while not signed in.
• Counters and reminders: how often you used the Site, so a sign‑up suggestion or feedback request appears only at the right time and not too often.
• Drafts: text you started typing in the feedback form, so it isn't lost.
• Offline cache: the Site's files are cached by the browser (Service Worker) so it loads fast and works offline.
• Sign‑in: if you signed in with Google, Firebase keeps the sign‑in state in your browser (mainly in IndexedDB) so you don't need to sign in on every visit.

All of this stays on your device and is not used for tracking. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings ("Clear site data"). Note that this resets your preferences and the board saved without an account.

Third parties

Images load from external sources and fonts from Google Fonts. These services may receive ordinary technical information such as an IP address, under their own policies. If you choose a machine‑translated language, Google Translate may set its own cookies. More in the Privacy Policy.

Copyright & Content Removal

We respect copyright and the work of photographers, illustrators and artists. The Site shows images from open sources with their license, creator name and a link to the source, as well as drawings users upload to the monthly challenge. If you believe any content on the Site infringes your rights, we'll gladly take care of it.

What to include in a removal request

• Your details: name and a way to contact you (email);
• The protected work: a description and, if possible, a link to the original;
• The content on the Site: a link to the image or drawing on the Site, or a screenshot and an exact description of where it is;
• Your right: a short explanation that you own the rights or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf;
• A statement that the information in the request is accurate and that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised.

What we do

We review every request promptly, usually within a few business days. Where a request has a reasonable basis, we remove or hide the content, and if it is a user's drawing we let the uploader know. If the image is shown from an external source we remove it from the Site, and we recommend also contacting the source itself (for example Wikimedia Commons or iNaturalist) to have it removed there.

A user who believes their content was removed by mistake may contact us with an explanation, and we will review the request again. Users who repeatedly infringe rights may be blocked.

Accessibility

Accessibility Statement

We want SketchDose to be pleasant and comfortable for everyone, including people with disabilities. We have worked to make the Site accessible in accordance with the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773‑2013, and Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA.

What we did

• The Site is built in Hebrew, right‑to‑left, with correct language and direction attributes; built‑in English, Arabic and Russian switch the language and direction accordingly;
• a "Skip to main content" link at the start of every page;
• the whole Site can be used with a keyboard, with a clear focus indicator; pop‑up windows close with Esc and keep focus inside until closed;
• every icon‑only button has an accessible name for screen readers, and every form field has a label;
• colour contrast at level AA in both light and dark mode;
• a hierarchical heading structure and landmarks (navigation, main content, footer);
• the operating system's "reduce motion" setting is respected, and animations can be stopped;
• the view can be zoomed to 200% and more, zoom is never blocked;
• an accessibility menu (the ♿ button) with larger and smaller text, high contrast, highlighted links, a readable font, stopping animations and reset;
• automated testing with axe‑core and manual keyboard testing, in light and dark mode, on desktop and mobile.

Known limitations

• The 3D studio is visual by nature (a figure on a WebGL canvas). Its controls are keyboard and screen‑reader accessible, but the figure itself cannot be fully described;
• reference images from external sources come with the title and description given at the source; some lack a detailed text alternative;
• challenge drawings are described by the title their author gave them;
• AI‑generated images are described by the text entered to create them;
• languages other than Hebrew, English, Arabic and Russian are shown through Google's machine translation, which we do not control.

We keep improving accessibility. If you run into a problem, we would really like to know.
